Georgia HOPE Scholarship Changes

Effective Summer Quarter 2011

After eligibility is confirmed, the HOPE Scholarship:

  • Will pay for tuition at 100% per charged credit hour.
  • Will pay mandatory, HOPE-eligible fees up to $53.
  • Books, materials, required instructional supplies:
    • up to $100 if Pell eligible.
    • up to $50 if not Pell eligible.
  • Covers remedial courses.

Requirements for eligibility

(applicable to current & new students)

The HOPE Scholarship may be available to students who:

  • are Georgia residents...
    • for a minimum of the last 12 consecutive months if a graduate from a Georgia high school   or
    • for a minimum of the last 24 consecutive months if a graduate from a high school not in Georgia   and   
  • are not in default on a student loan from any institution   and 
  • are enrolled in a degree-level program at CTC   and 
  • have not already earned a four-year degree from any institution   and 
  • have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) for all attempted coursework at standard HOPE Scholarship checkpoints   and
  • have fewer than 127 semester hours (or 190 quarter hours) of attempted coursework paid for by HOPE (includes all coursework, regardless of any changes of program or institution)

Effective Fall Semester 2011

After eligibility is confirmed, the HOPE Scholarship:

  • Will pay for tuition at $60.75 per charged credit hour.
  • Will not pay for any fees.
  • Will not pay for books, materials, or other instructional supplies.
  • Does not cover remedial courses.

Requirements for eligibility

(applicable to current & new students)

The HOPE Scholarship may be available to students who:

  • are Georgia residents...
    • for a minimum of the last 12 consecutive months if a graduate from a Georgia high school or
    • for a minimum of the last 24 consecutive months if a graduate from a high school not in Georgia and
  • are not in default on a student loan from any institution and
  • are enrolled in a degree-level program at CTC and
  • have not already earned a four-year degree from any institution and
  • have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) for all attempted coursework at 30, 60, 90, & 120 semester hours and
  • have fewer than 127 semester hours (or 190 quarter hours) of attempted coursework paid for by HOPE (includes all coursework, regardless of any changes of program or institution).

Important Notes:

Additional requirements may apply.

Quarter credit hours (Q) are converted to Semester (S) credit hours by dividing by 1.5 (Q/1.5 = S).

If grades drop, you have only one chance to regain Scholarship.

Students who had received a HOPE Scholarship prior to Summer Quarter 2011 are eligible to receive the HOPE Scholarship until June 30, 2015, regardless of high school graduation date. For students who had not received a HOPE Scholarship prior to Summer Quarter 2011, eligibility will end on June 30 of the 7th academic year following his or her high school graduation
